Personal Survival Techniques

This course has been approved by the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India.

Objective: To instruct seafarers on safety guidelines, survival principles at sea, emergency situations, evacuation, survival crafts and rescue boats, personal life-saving appliances, helicopter assistance and emergency radio equipment.

Duration: Three days

Eligibility: Mandatory for all seafarers before taking up employment on board sea-going ships. A doctor must certify a trainee to be in good health before h/she undertakes this course.

Medicare Course

This course has been approved by the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India.

Objective: To induct in seafarers the competence to provide medical care to the sick and injured while on board, deal with disease prevention as well as death at sea and observe environmental control on board ship.

Duration: Ten days

Eligibility: Seafarer must hold a certificate of competency at least as second mate of a foreign-going ship or mate of a home trade ship.

Medical First Aid
