The Sea Explorers’ Institute (SEI) in Kolkata, with the support of Government of India, has been engaged with maritime expedition, adventure sports, training, research and activities related to riverine and marine awareness for nearly 3 decades now.
Since inception of SEI in 1987, the Indian Navy has provided guidance and support to the institute as and when needed. Indian Navy has recently offered to gift the Institute a 27 ft. DK. Whaler for Sea Expedition and Sea Awareness among the young boys and girls. The boat has been refurbished by Garden Reach Ship Builders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE).
The whaler has been named ‘ABHINANDAN’ and will be launched ceremonially from GRSE Boat Shed Jetty on 24th May at 2:30 pm. The boat will be rowed and brought to our Institute by our students.
The occasion will be graced by Commodore Suprobho K. De, NM, Naval Officer-in-Charge, Indian Navy West Bengal and senior GRSE officials.
