The Sea Explorers’ Institute has been working for over two decades towards creating awareness on River, especially the River Ganga and its importance in our everyday life.
It is ironical that although the Ganges River is the main source of potable water to many cities and towns and for irrigation, she is the most polluted river carrying huge amount of garbage dumped everyday by various users . This definitely is a matter of great concern for us all who realize the devastating effect of pollution of the river.
With the object of creating general awareness on the environment impact of the river misuse, the Institute has organized programmes of which the following are the two salient events.
I. WALK FOR THE RIVER : ( 29th Jan. 2011, Saturday, Time : 10:30 12:00 noon )

The Walk led by eminent personalities like Kalyan Rudra, Pranabesh Sanyal, Sambaran Banerjee, Basanta Sinha Roy, Partha Hazari (Mayor-in-Council), Sandhi Mukherjee and other dignitaries.
II. COUNTRY BOAT RALLY : ( 29 Jan 11, Saturday, Time : 2:15 – 4 :00 PM )

The participants were local boatmen and fishermen . The INDIAN NAVYjoined them.
The Naval Officer-in Charge, West Bengal and Asstt. Commissioner of Police, Kolkata were present at the boat rally. The Director of Pailan Group gave away gifts to all the participating boatmen. Kolkata Police,INS Netaji Subhas (Indian Navy), River Traffic Police, Pailan Group, Girl Scouts, Trident College of Marine Technology, Seacom Group, National Inland Navigation Institute of and Vivada made the colourful events a great success. The participation of young students from Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan, Bharat Scouts (Girls Guide), Floatel Hotel and Rishi Aurobindo Talent Scouts added an amazing colour and charm to the days programme.
