River Awareness

Sea Explorers’ Institute is working for the last two decades towards creating awareness on River, especially River Ganga, its importance in our everyday life.

Although the river is the main source of potable water to many cities and towns and for irrigation, she is the most polluted river carrying huge amount of garbage dumped everyday by various users.

With the object of creating general awareness on the environment impact of the river misuse, the Institute is organizing various programmes, as follows –

• Art Camp by the river            ( 28 Jan’11, Friday )
• Culture event                             ( 28 Jan’11, Friday )
• Display stands promoting the message.  ( 28 Jan’11, Fri  to   31 Jan’11, Mon )
• Walk for the river                       ( 29th Jan. 2011, Saturday, )
• Country Boat Rally                    ( 29 Jan 2011, Saturday )
• Sit & draw competition             ( 12 Feb’11, Saturday)

All are invited to witness the programmes .

In  Details :

I.    Walk   for  the  river :

( 29th Jan. 2011,  Saturday,    Time : 10:30 – 12:00 noon )

  • From            :   Goshtha Pal Statue  (opposite to  Eden Garden Stadium)
  • Terminates at the   Millennium Park
  • Route   :    starting point  ‘Goshtha Pal Sarani’ -  ‘Akashbani Bhavan main gate’ –‘Netaji Indoor Stadium’ –  Strand Road – ‘Millennium Park’

The ‘Walk’ will be led and receive by eminent personalities  and River Scientist.

II.    Country  Boat  Rally  :

( 29 Jan’11, Saturday,   Time : 2:15  -  4 :00 PM )

  • From            :   Kumartuli  Nandibari  Ghat
  • Terminates at the  Millennium Park

The  participants  are  local  boatmen  and  fishermen .

The ‘ Indian Navy’  will also join  them.
