Underwater Diving Course
Two courses are offered: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) and Commercial Basic Air Diving.
Objective: To provide formal training to divers and create skilled divers for underwater industrial activity.
Duration:
- Eight weeks for SCUBA
- 10 weeks for Commercial Air Diving.
Eligibility: Candidates must be within 18-35 years of age, have passed the higher secondary examination (science) or its equivalent, be a good swimmer and be physically and mentally fit. (Relaxation may be allowed for sponsored candidates and professional divers in the industry.)
Future Scope: Career in a) sports and adventure, b) salvage and rescue, c) harbour repair and construction, d) demolition, e) survey, f) remedial work in lakes and rivers, g) scientific data collection and observation, h) television and film sequences, k) archaeology, l) aqua-culture, m) desiltation of pump-houses and n) underwater crack repair and drilling of dams/water reservoirs.
